New immersive musical brings international cast to Shanghai

The immersive musical "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812" will conclude its first round of performances in Shanghai on March 3.

After the final 10 shows at Bocom New Bund 31 Performing Arts Center, the international cast are expected to bid farewell and leave the city.

A new international production jointly produced by SGT, West Bund Theatre and Changyang Culture Co, "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812" features an international cast recruited from New York and Shanghai.

The multiple-award winning musical by Dave Malloy will have 50 shows in Shanghai from Jan 14 to March 3.

According to Zhang Xiaoding, the general manager of SGT, as Shanghai becomes a center for high-quality performing productions from all over the world, SGT is exploring new possibilities in introducing outstanding overseas productions to China and excellent Chinese shows to global audiences.

The Great Comet marks the first time SGT adopted the international business model for a theater production.
