Railways handle over 300m festival trips
More than 300 million passenger trips were made on China's railways from Jan 26 to Feb 19, the first 25 days of the Spring Festival travel rush, China State Railway Group said. The railway sector reported 14.04 million passenger trips on Monday, while it forecast 13.3 million for Tuesday. The country's railways remained busy even after the end of the Spring Festival holiday, with students and migrant workers continuing to boost passenger numbers. Railway departments have provided additional trains in response to travel demand.
Copyright registrations soar in China last year
China saw a significant rise in the rate of copyright registrations for works last year, with many provinces seeing year-on-year increases of 100 percent or more, the country's copyright regulator said on Tuesday. Last year, copyrights were registered for more than 6.4 million works, up 42.3 percent year-on-year, according to the latest data released by the National Copyright Administration. Beijing witnessed the most such registrations, followed by Shandong and Fujian provinces, the administration said.
Former senior adviser faces bribery charges
Sun Shutao, a former senior political adviser in Shandong province, has been indicted on charges of taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said in a statement on Tuesday. The procuratorate of Datong, Shanxi province, filed Sun's case with the city's intermediate people's court, according to the SPP. Prosecutors accused Sun of taking advantage of the various positions he formerly held to seek benefits for others, and accept a huge amount of money and gifts in exchange.
