Ukraine bakery strikes kill 28, Russia says
The number of fatalities following the Ukrainian strike on a bakery in the Lugansk region has risen to 28, Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Sunday. "Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have rescued 10 people. Unfortunately, 28 people, including one child, died," it said in a Telegram post. According to the ministry, the search-and-rescue operation at the collapsed bakery was continuing. A bakery in the city of Lysychansk in the Lugansk region was reportedly shelled on Saturday by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Presidential election delayed by 6 months
Senegalese President Macky Sall on Saturday announced the postponement of the presidential election originally scheduled for Feb 25. The announcement was made in a message broadcast to the nation just a few hours before the start of the electoral campaign at midnight on Sunday. The National Assembly adopted a bill on Saturday to request the six-month postponement of the election. Twenty candidates were cleared by the Constitutional Council to compete in the polls. The president has decided not to run for a third term.

Leader Geingob dies of cancer
Namibian President Hage G.Geingob died early on Sunday while receiving cancer treatment in a hospital in the capital Windhoek, the presidential office announced. He was 82.Geingob had served as Namibia's third president since March 21, 2015, and was reelected for another five-year term in 2019.He served as prime minister in 1990-2002 and 2012-15, in addition to other key ministerial and leadership roles. On Jan 19, the Namibian presidency said Geingob's medical team discovered cancerous cells following a biopsy examination.
