To welcome the lunar year of the dragon, Zhang Xiaodong, an artisan from the Hanting district of Weifang city in East China's Shandong province, made an exquisite kite with five dragons on it.

Zhang is a national inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage project called the Weifang Kite. He said that the design of the kite uses the shape of the shayan or swallow as the blueprint, as a swallow is a bird that brings the good news of the onset of Spring.

A coiled dragon is in the middle and two flying dragons are on the left and right sides, respectively.

Dragons with four outstretched claws show a powerful and domineering aura, as well as representing the stability and unity of society.

Zhang added that he has dedicated himself to innovation in kite making, to enable Weifang kites to fly higher and higher.
