China will operate a new train schedule from Wednesday, adding more passenger and freight trains to fulfill the increasing transportation needs, according to the national railway operator China State Railway Group on Monday.

Since then, the railway system will operate 11,149 passenger trains and 22,264 freight trains every day, up 233 and 40 respectively, to increase the transportation capacity and inject new impetus into the social and economic development, the group said.

Last month, several new railways opened. Having multiple new lines open, the schedule will be adjusted to add more trains to boost the railway transport capacity.
