Beijing Daxing International Airport says it expects to handle 350,000 passenger trips during this weekend's three-day New Year's Day holiday, with the peak expected to fall on Friday.
During the holiday, international passenger volume to Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Osaka is expected to increase significantly.
The most popular domestic destinations are expected to be in the southern, eastern and southeastern parts of China, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen in Guangdong province, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, and Chengdu in Sichuan province.
The airport expects to handle more than 39 million passenger trips this year, with the total standing at 38.85 million as of Tuesday, nearly three times more than last year.
