BEIJING -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Monday welcomed customs relaxation of the restriction on the quantity of sorghum wine from Taiwan carried by direct-flight passengers between Fujian coastal areas and Kinmen and Matsu.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the limit has been raised from four bottles to six bottles responding to growing calls from Kinmen and Matsu residents in recent years.

This measure aims to support the acceleration of the integrated development between Xiamen and Kinmen and deepen the integrated development of Fuzhou and Matsu, and it's believed to bring more benefits for Taiwan compatriots, Zhu said.

"As long as it is something good for the integrated development between the mainland and Taiwan and the well-being of Taiwan people, we will do our best to achieve it," Zhu added.
