The third World Conference on Best Practicing of Carbon Neutrality was held on the sidelines of the COP28 United Nations climate change conference in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, making it the first-ever to be held within the framework of the annual UN gathering.

Zhao Ai, executive vice-chairman of the China Society of Economic Reform, delivered a keynote speech titled Take Action to Build the Green Silk Road Together, emphasizing the significant responsibility of constructing the Green Silk Road in the face of climate change.

He said the Chinese government and various sectors of society have consistently attached great importance to green cooperation along the Silk Road.

He believes that adopting a green and low-carbon lifestyle should be the social responsibility of each individual, urging everyone to take action, starting with small things, and becoming advocates for green and low-carbon lifestyles.

Participants, including scholars, entrepreneurs, members with social organizations from China and abroad, engaged in in-depth discussions on international cooperation in achieving carbon neutrality and the construction of the Green Silk Road.

Since its establishment in 2021, the World Conference on Best Practicing of Carbon Neutrality has consistently emphasized practice and action.

This year, the conference was held for the first time within the framework of the United Nations climate change conference, focusing more on making substantial contributions to the conference through practical actions.

As early as June of this year, the conference organizers, in collaboration with the Chinese Consulate General in Dubai and some other institutions, initiated the "GreenBiWalk Dubai" campaign, urging people to travel in green manner to reduce emissions and assist Dubai in achieving carbon neutrality at COP28.

After six months of efforts, the initiative received support from over 300,000 people.
