From Seeds to Trees: A Six-Year-Story with the Camp

Ebad Faisal Qureshi, a Pakistani medical student, shares a compelling journey shaped by his experiences at the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop. His story unfolds with a deep-rooted desire to study medicine, fueled by observations of the healthcare department, hospital visits, and witnessing family members grappling with illness. The compassionate care provided by doctors resonated with Ebad, sparking a profound connection to the field.

An old friend of the camp, Ebad was introduced to the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop in 2017. He embarked on an adventure into the unknown, expressing, "I really wanted to do something out of the books. I wanted to try some new experiences." The camp proved to be an opportunity for him to break free from conventional learning and seek fresh perspectives. Communicating with profound and creative minds from various countries boosted his self-confidence and shaped his aspirations towards becoming a doctor upon returning to Pakistan.

Returning after six years, Ebad marveled at the camp's evolution from a seed to a flourishing tree. He highlighted, "The main focus of the camp was to socialize, to learn about other cultures." Ebad recounted his participation in the Colorful Camp's activities, particularly crafting a hand fan with a friend from Laos, Marissa. He was also impressed by the enthusiasm and openness of Chinese volunteers and organizers.

Ebad emphasized the solid friendship between Pakistan and China, underlining the significance of the Belt and Road Initiative and collaborative efforts. He expressed his enduring love for China and emphasized the profound educational values of the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop, stating, "I just love this country and I love the people and I love the experience."
