Young Maker competition celebrates 10th anniversary
The 2023 China-US Young Maker Competition Award Ceremony and 10th Anniversary Event was held at Tsinghua University, Beijing, on Oct 19.
The annual event initiated by the Ministry of Education in 2014 gives young people from both countries a chance to display their ideas and inventions focused on sustainability, including in areas such as community development, education, environmental protection, healthcare, energy use and transportation.
This year, the competition attracted about 10,000 students from some 800 schools, who submitted 2,000 projects, with 94 teams winning awards in eight categories.
Since 2014, 50,000 students from the two countries have taken part, not only creating projects covering sectors such as education, health, transportation and energy, but also promoting bilateral communication.
As a special nod to the 10th anniversary, a forum was held at Tsinghua University on Oct 19, that brought together experts and young talent to share their ideas and communicate.
