Hami melon alliance to advance its development

A Hami melon industry alliance was established at a conference in Beijing on Monday that looked at ways to drive the high-quality development of the fruit.

The melon is a specialty of Hami in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

"By comprehensively aggregating resources and consolidating industry consensus, we aim to create an efficient platform for the high-quality development of the Hami melon industry across the whole (industry) chain," said Liu Gang,deputy director of the China Quality Certification Center.

During the conference, the articles of association for the Hami melon high-quality development industry alliance were reviewed and adopted, and key positions filled, including chairman and executive vice chairman.

Experts and scholars in the fields of Hami melon germ plasm R&D, standards certification, fresh-fruit cold chains, and brand development shared their project work during the conference.

"As a significant seminar to promote the construction of the Hami melon industry chain system, the meeting plays a vital role in implementing the national strategy for revitalizing rural industries and accelerating the cultivation and development of the whole agricultural industry chain," Liu added.

Sun Tao, secretary of the Hami Municipal Party Committee, Liu Haiqi, deputy director of the Planning and Design Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the conference.
