From humiliation to jail time: Woman's violent act against husband's mistress

A woman was sentenced to eight months in jail by the local court in Congjiang county of Guizhou province, following a violent attack on her husband's mistress. The incident was reported by Elephant News, a Henan-based news portal, on Tuesday.
The incident dates back to the previous year when the woman surnamed Xu was determined to verify rumors of her husband's extramarital involvement. Her quest for the truth eventually led to a shocking and violent confrontation.
On Nov 2, Xu surveilled the residence where her husband was staying and noticed activity in the room shortly after he had left. Reacting swiftly, she enlisted the assistance of three other women. Together, they forcefully entered the room, where they encountered Yao, the woman alleged to be her husband's mistress.
In a disturbing turn of events, Yao was subjected to physical assault, her clothing was torn, and pepper spray was used during the altercation. Adding to the distress, Xu suggested a degrading act: publicly humiliating Yao by undressing her, exposing her private parts, and parading her through the streets.
Despite the busy day and the risk of public exposure, Xu and her three companions subjected Yao to this degrading treatment for about 30 minutes. To compound the issue, the entire incident was recorded on video and widely circulated on various QQ groups and WeChat.
The People's Court of Congjiang County, in its ruling on Oct 7, determined that Xu and her accomplices had committed a public humiliation act through the use of violence. The motivation behind their actions was rooted in personal relationship conflicts. Consequently, the court found that their actions constituted crimes of insult and defamation, as stipulated in the Criminal Law.
As the principal offender, Xu was sentenced to eight months in prison, while her three accomplices were deemed complicit in the crime and received sentences of six months in prison, along with a one-year probation period.
