The Red Cross Society of China said on Sunday that it has provided emergency humanitarian donations to its Afghan counterpart to help it carry out rescue and disaster relief after several strong earthquakes hit the country in recent days.

The donation comprises tents, folding beds, cotton quilt and outdoor jackets, and has been shipped from Urumqi in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Sunday.

China's Red Cross had already sent an emergency humanitarian cash assistance of $200,000 to the Afghan Red Crescent Society on Oct 8 following two 6.2-magnitude earthquakes reported in the afternoon of Oct 7.
