1.58 mln daily entries, exits tipped in holiday
China is expected to see an average of 1.58 million daily inbound and outbound passenger trips during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, a roughly threefold increase year-on-year, according to the National Immigration Administration on Wednesday. The administration asked border inspection agencies to release data about passenger flows in a timely manner for travelers' reference, and open sufficient inspection channels to ensure safe, smooth and orderly operation at points of entry.
Latest remote sensing satellite launched
China on Wednesday sent its latest remote sensing satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China. The satellite, Yaogan 33 04, was launched on a Long March 4C carrier rocket at 4:15 am, and has entered its planned orbit successfully. It will be used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimates, and disaster prevention and relief work. The launch was the 489th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.
New high-speed rail starts in Fujian
A new cross-sea high-speed railway will enter into service on Thursday in Fujian province, the country's railway operator said on Tuesday. The railway, extending 277 kilometers, will run through the cities of Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou, according to the China State Railway Group. Designed to run at a top speed of 350 km per hour, the railway will connect Fuzhou and Xiamen, two major cities in the province, with the trip between the two cities taking 55 minutes.
