Bountiful rice harvest awaits after farmers overcome adversity

Despite suffering heavy rainfall and flooding in early August, farmers in Shulan, Jilin province, are looking forward to another bumper harvest of rice as patches of their farmland are turning golden in autumn days.
After the flood, local agricultural departments carried out a series of timely measures, including drainage, dredging, crop-dusting, to control pests and diseases.
Moreover, the black soil in Shulan was protected effectively and the yield and quality of rice was improved by means of soil testing and formula fertilization in the paddy fields.
All the efforts created a picturesque scene of bountiful harvest on 50,000 hectares of paddy fields in Shulan.
In early October, the processing of high-quality rice will be completed and the rice will be sent to different regions across China, such as Beijing, Shanghai and the provinces of Guangdong, Hainan and Sichuan.
