Cambodia's new PM to pay 1st formal visit
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will pay an official visit to China from Thursday to Saturday at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said. President Xi Jinping will meet with Hun Manet during the visit, Mao told a regular news briefing on Monday. It will be the first formal visit of the new Cambodian prime minister after he took office last month, and this speaks volumes of the Cambodian government for placing emphasis on the development of bilateral relations, she said. Beijing looks forward to using the visit to plan the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation and ensure the implementation of bilateral cooperation initiatives, Mao added.

150 killed by floods after rainstorm
At least 150 people were killed in freak floods in eastern Libya as a result of storm Daniel which has swept the Mediterranean, an official said on Monday. Mohamed Masoud, a spokesman for the administration in Benghazi, said most of the victims were from the city of Derna, some 1,300 kilometers east of the capital Tripoli.

France accused of deploying forces
Niger's new military leaders accused France on Sunday of amassing forces for a possible military intervention in the country, following a coup on July 26 that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum. French President Emmanuel Macron said his country does not recognize any legitimacy in the statements of the military.
