Careful hand work key to quality in Ningxia vineyards

Farmers in the wine-producing areas of Helan Mountains' eastern foothills in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region began picking grapes recently, marking the start of the busy season for wineries.
With one hand holding scissors and anther carrying a basket, a picker selects and cuts bunches of grapes from their vines. While the manual labor is time-consuming, it's preferable to machines, which can damage the fruit. Hand work ensures good quality. Green fruit, leaves and rotten or damage grapes will be thrown away.
Many local wineries have kicked off their harvest of white grapes. This will be followed by red grapes. Video by Liu Dianying and Hui Jinxin.
