White man shoots 3 black people dead

A masked white man carrying at least one weapon bearing a swastika fatally shot three black people inside a Florida store on Saturday in an attack with a clear motive of racial hatred, officials said. The shooting in a Dollar General store in a predominantly black neighborhood left two men and one woman dead, and was "racially motivated", Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said. The shooter made racist remarks before the shooting and killed himself at the scene.

AUSTRALIA

3 US Marines killed in aircraft crash

A United States Marine Corps aircraft carrying troops crashed on a north Australian island on Sunday, killing three Marines and injuring 20 during a multinational training exercise, officials said. Three had been confirmed dead on Melville Island and five of the 23 on board were flown in serious condition to the mainland city of Darwin for hospital treatment after the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft crashed around 9:30 am, a statement from the Marines said.

RUSSIA

Authorities confirm Prigozhin's death

Russia's Investigative Committee said on Sunday that it has confirmed that Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the mercenary group Wagner, was killed in a plane crash. Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said in a statement that forensic testing identified all 10 bodies recovered at the site of Wednesday's crash, and the findings "conform to the manifest" of the plane. The statement did not offer any details as to what may have caused the crash.

HAITI

At least 7 die after gang opens fire

At least seven people were killed in Haiti on Saturday, the local rights group CARDH said, after a gang that controls a northern suburb of the capital Port-au-Prince opened fire with machine guns on a protest organized by a Christian church leader. Local media reported at least 10 had been killed, and CARDH director Gedeon Jean said the final number was likely to be higher, adding that several people were wounded and some churchgoers had been kidnapped.
