Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital on Thursday announced that it has launched a one-stop service combining medical treatment and long-term care for senior patients.

The service includes comprehensive health assessment, personalized rehabilitation treatment, one-on-one nursing and companionship, and psychological counseling during the hospitalization period. The hospital can also monitor patients' health after their discharge using a digital platform.

"We hope that by combining smart medical treatment and humanistic care, we can provide better elderly care solutions for families," said Ge Feng, CEO of Jiahui Health.

The hospital noted that it can also provide elderly patients whose children live overseas with a full-time health management specialist who will accompany them throughout the treatment process. Family members will be updated about the progress and be provided with medical reports in real time.

Zhao Yanwei, deputy director of the hospitalization department of Jiahui Health, said that such a service would benefit many families.

"It is not rare that elderly individuals who have suffered from diseases for a long time develop symptoms both physically and mentally, and may hurt themselves. In such cases, families and caregivers without professional nursing skills often find it difficult to help them," she explained. "In many cases, children of these elderly patients are usually silver-haired themselves."

Statistics from the National Health Commission show that there were 45 million dependent elderly residents in the country as of the end of 2021. In addition, two-thirds of individuals aged 65 and above in the country suffer from more than one disease.
