Beijing brings schools to Xiong'an New Area

Three schools from Beijing, including a kindergarten, a primary school and a high school, will open branches in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei province, under an agreement signed on Friday.
Construction of the new facilities — branches of Beijing No 4 High School, Beijing Shijia Hutong Primary School and Beijing Beihai Kindergarten in Xiong'an — was completed in April. They were supported by Beijing and handed over to the new area under a strategic cooperation agreement signed by the two cities' governments in August 2017, four months after central authorities announced plans to create Xiong'an.
The new area's administrative government signed a commissioning agreement with the three schools on Friday.
The three schools will introduce advanced school administration concepts and promote the extension of Beijing's high-quality education resources to Xiong'an. They will be dedicated to the improvement of overall education quality in the new area.
A new hospital is also on a list of projects supported by Beijing. Construction of the Xiong'an branch of Beijing's Xuanwu Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University is nearing completion.
