Tech summit in Tibet puts focus inside region


Ma Ye, vice-president of Huawei's data communication product line, said that Huawei, a partner in the development of Lhasa's digital economy, has been committed to technological innovation, industrial investment, and ecological construction since its landing in Tibet in 2002. "It has actively involved in the wave of digital construction, and it has achieved outstanding cooperation results in various fields, such as building government cloud platform, smart healthcare, smart education and digital talent cultivation," he said.
Liu Yong, an official from the region's big data development administration, shared a detailed presentation on the concepts of the digital economy, the development trends of the global and Chinese digital economies and the direction of new technology development.
"Tibet will accelerate the construction of an integrated big data system, make full use of resource-rich advantages, promote the construction of a security system and promote efficient sharing and effective use of data resources to contribute the region's overall digital economic development," Liu said.
In 2022, Tibet recorded more than 20 billion yuan ($2.78 billion) of added value contributed by the digital economy, Xinhua News Agency reported.
