Bridge collapse sends train cars into river

A bridge that crosses the Yellowstone River in Montana collapsed early on Saturday, plunging portions of a freight train carrying hazardous materials into the rushing water below. The train cars were carrying hot asphalt and molten sulfur, the Stillwater County Disaster and Emergency Services said. An Associated Press reporter witnessed a yellow substance coming out of some of the train cars. David Stamey, the county's chief of emergency services, said the hazardous material was being diluted by the swollen river. There were three asphalt cars and four sulfur cars in the river.

Vote cast for 2nd time in little over a month

Greeks headed to the polls for the second time in little over a month on Sunday. Conservative leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, 55, is eyeing a second term as prime minister after his New Democracy party won by a huge margin in the May elections, but fell short of gaining enough parliamentary seats to form a government. His main rival is Alexis Tsipras, 48, who leads the left-wing Syriza party and served as prime minister from 2015 to 2019. Opinion polls in recent days have shown New Democracy winning with around 40 percent of the votes, with Syriza trailing at about 20 percent.
