For decades the National Art Museum of China has been an important stage of cultural exchanges between China and the world, allowing the majority of public to see the first piece of foreign art in their lives. It has been through not only exhibitions but also dialogues given by scholars with expertise in the area.

As part of the ongoing celebrations of NAMOC's 60th anniversary this year, Yang Shaobo, a guest professor of world art history at Shanghai International Studies University, recently gave a talk at the Beijing museum on beauty in the cultural senses of the East and the West, as well as the role of museums to spread out aesthetic views. The activity has been the first offline dialogue for the public at NAMOC in three years.

Since 2004, the museum has staged over 100 dialogues as an integral part of its public education program.
