Diplomats visit Guizhou for eco-civilization cooperation

Around 20 diplomats from 19 nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) traveled on Saturday to Guiyang, Guizhou province, for eco-civilization cooperation.
It was not Alain Wong Yen Cheong's first visit to Guizhou. The ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius in China has witnessed the development of eco-civilization construction in Guizhou.
He said the province is committed to sustainable development, noting that land was being given back to the forest.
"I am expecting to see much greener forest in Guizhou," he said.
In recent years, Guizhou has made efforts to protect its ecological environment while promoting economic development. Its green economy accounted for 42 percent of the province's GDP in 2021. Last year, forest coverage reached 62.8 percent.
During their five-day visit, foreign diplomats from Greece, Fiji, Mauritius and other countries will visit Guiyang, Bijie and Anshun to learn more about Guizhou's achievements in the fields of ecological civilization, rural vitalization, poverty reduction and technological development.
