Drugstore chains aim to educate on intestinal health

Beaufour-Ipsen (Tianjin) Pharmaceutical Co, together with three Chinese chain drugstores, launched a national intestinal health protection public welfare program in Beijing, aiming at enhancing Chinese consumers' intestinal health.
The public welfare program, launched by Beaufour-Ipsen, Jzj Health Drug Store, Shuyu Drugstore Co Ltd and Huashi Pharmacy, called for joint efforts from all walks of life to enhance consumers' attention to intestinal health and safeguard the health of more consumers.
Through a series of events such as seminars and interactive science activities, the program raises public awareness about intestinal health.
Data from the National Health Commission showed that in 2021, 1.3 million patients suffered from infective diarrhea, with it having more infections than the flu.
Wang Huahong, chief physician of the gastroenterology department at Peking University First Hospital, said: "Adults are one of the most common age groups suffering from diarrhea. Specifically, many middle-aged and young people suffer from diarrhea due to work pressure, lifestyle and travel needs."
To offer more convenience to diarrhea patients, Beaufour-Ipsen launched the ready-to-drink version of its signature product Smecta.
Alan Chen, general manager of Beaufour-Ipsen (Tianjin) Pharmaceutical Co, said: "As a consumer-centric company, we are constantly making innovations, to bring better products and services to consumers. We hope that the RTD version of the product will bring a more comfortable and more convenient user experience to consumers."
"In the future, we will keep our promise to the Chinese market, accelerate the process of launching more products that better meet consumer needs, promote industrial revolution and contribute to the Healthy China 2030 initiative," he said.
