Shanghai Disneyland Resort will ban wagons and other types of carriers including large strollers, carts, stroller suitcases and trailers starting on June 30, the resort announced on May 31.

According to the resort, the ban is due to the continuous complaints about how these devices occupy significant amounts of space in the premises.

Individuals with disabilities, elderly guests, and those with existing health conditions can still use manual and electric wheelchairs that have a maximum speed of 16 kilometers per hour. Strollers that meet certain criteria and are designed for children aged 11 and below or have a height of 1.4 meters and below can also be brought into the premises. Such devices, however, should not be used for transporting personal items within the park and indoor venues.

"We have noticed that there is a significant increase in the number of wagons and other types of carriers that are causing safety and congestion issues inside (Shanghai Disneyland)," said Andrew Bolstein, Senior Vice President of Operations at Shanghai Disneyland Resort, in a previous interview.

The announcement was met with positive feedback online.

Shanghai Disneyland Resort is not the first to implement such a ban. Orlando Disneyland, too, has enforced similar restrictions, prohibiting strollers exceeding 79 centimeters in width and 132 cm in length, wagons (including stroller wagons), trailer-like objects attached to vehicles or individuals, unstable mobility devices with less than 3 wheels, and devices with training wheels or modifications.
