The Nedong district in Lhokha city of the Tibet autonomous region has been approved for the application of the traditional villages of the State protection list of 2023, making it the region's first county to receive the glory.

The county will receive a subsidy fund of 50 million yuan ($7 million) from the central government, marking a new step in the region's efforts in traditional village protection and usage.

Nedong district has seven traditional villages, namely the villages of Tashi Choten, Gyalsang, Samkhar, Kyepa, Mondrong, Dorak, and Deshing.

These villages are enriched with unique natural landscapes, valuable cultural relics, historical and cultural places. Protection and usage of traditional villages in a wider range of communities will help to protect and use the villages neighboring areas and pursue a sustainable development.
