Top procuratorate to look into fatal hospital fire
China's Supreme People's Procuratorate will supervise the investigation into the Beijing Changfeng Hospital fire, according to an official statement released by the country's top procuratorate on Saturday. The fire broke out on April 18 at the hospital in Beijing's Fengtai district killing 29 people, 26 of whom were patients. The police launched an investigation into the fire the same day. A preliminary investigation showed the fire was caused by sparks from a construction project that ignited volatiles from combustible paint. A total of 15 people have been placed in criminal detention.
Over 2.5m jobs for new graduates created
As of Wednesday, about 2.53 million new jobs have been created for college graduates this year via an employment promotion campaign, the Ministry of Education said on Saturday. The ministry launched the campaign last November, with 2,415 universities and colleges participating in the initiative. Education authorities at the provincial level have been required to help build bridges between higher education institutions and companies, taking into consideration the layout of the former and the recruitment demands of the latter.
