China will continue to promote quality traditional Chinese medicine resources and services overseas, a TCM official said on Thursday.

Wei Chunyu, deputy director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine's international cooperation department, said that the administration has shared the experiences of medical workers using TCM to fight the novel coronavirus during the COVID-19 epidemic with over 150 countries and regions.

The three TCM patent medicines and three TCM prescriptions, which have proved effective in easing COVID-19 symptoms, have been adopted by a number of countries, she said during a news conference.

China has also dispatched TCM experts to aid disease control work in 29 countries. The first national-level TCM medical aid team was also sent to Cambodia.

Meanwhile, the country has held several international cooperation forums on COVID-19 epidemic containment and supported the World Health Organization's work in evaluating TCM's role in COVID-19 treatment.

China unveiled a plan on Wednesday that aims to promote the culture of TCM, including stepping up protection and conservation of the practice, building a national digital TCM museum, launching various activities to raise awareness among students and facilitating TCM-related cultural exchanges with foreign countries.

Wei said that the administration will continue to host a variety of TCM cultural campaigns to promote high quality resources and services to the world while strengthening education campaigns to increase the understanding and recognition of TCM abroad.
