The rising number of intellectual property disputes involving computer chips and telecommunications technology in recent years has prompted a national-level IP court to pay greater attention to protecting IP rights, according to a recent report.

Improved handling of cases has played an important role in encouraging companies to pursue innovation and has encouraged development, according to the annual report of the Intellectual Property Court, which is part of the Supreme People's Court, China's top court.

The report is available in Chinese and English on the IP Court's official WeChat account.

In addition to placing increased importance on dealing with lawsuits concerning the chip and telecom industries, the IP Court has also focused more on disputes involving data-related transactions and data markets to smooth the path for the growth of the digital economy, the report said.

The court is also endeavoring to provide a solid judicial guarantee for strengthening the rule of law on IP protection, supporting development in science and technology, building a unified national market and promoting opening-up, it added.
