Important theatrical promotion meeting in Mexico generates expectation

The XXII edition of the National Theater Meeting of the Movimiento Antorchista Nacional will take place on March 24-26 at the "Elisa Carrillo" Concert Hall of the Centro Cultural Mexiquense Bicentenario in Texcoco, State of Mexico.

At least 20 theater companies will present the work of national and international playwrights, bringing 500 actors and actresses to the stage during three days of presentations at the event.

This edition will feature plays by classic playwrights such as Calderón de la Barca, William Shakespeare, Molière, Arthur Miller, among other excellent and important writers.

More than 500 actors from different states of Mexico will attend this national event to showcase their stage skills. They will be graded on their directing, acting, memorization of the text, mastery of the scene, production, discourse of the play and scenography in two categories, semi-professional and amateur.

For more than 20 years, the Movimiento Antorchista, with a presence in 32 states and a membership of 2 million members, has organized this theatrical event every year to promote the arts in communities and schools nationwide.

According to Homero Aguirre Enríquez, national spokesman, he remarked that art, including theater, is a powerful weapon to transform the human being, his conscience, sensitivity and will, making him a better man, with higher feelings and thoughts. Art turns man into someone more supportive and intelligent, and with a greater capacity to coexist with his fellow men and help them to live a fuller life.

That is why they promote contests like these, opening the stage for artists from all over Mexico through the organization of different cultural events to discover talents, educate them and help them develop their artistic talents.
