China boosts global cooperation on cyberspace governance
China has increased international exchanges and cooperation in terms of law-based cyberspace governance over the years, playing an active role in rule-making, a white paper said.
Titled "China's Law-based Cyberspace Governance in the New Era", the paper was issued by the State Council Information Office on Thursday.
It noted that cyberspace is a shared activity space for humanity, clarifying that China is collaborating with other countries to reform the global cyberspace governance system by upholding independence, equality and mutual respect, to ensure that all countries share the opportunities and fruits brought by the development of the internet.
While actively participating in international cyberspace-related rule-making, China has also conducted extensive exchanges and cooperation with other nations, such as increasing international law enforcement and judicial cooperation on cybersecurity as well as jointly protecting the rights and interests of minors in cyberspace, according to the office.
In addition, China has striven to build a global platform promoting connectivity between itself and the rest of the world, it said.
For example, China has hosted the World Internet Conference since 2014 to help exchange ideas on the rule of law in cyberspace while supporting negotiations under the framework of the United Nations on the global convention against cybercrimes, it added.
