More than 400,000 workers, including teachers, junior doctors, university staff, civil servants and London underground drivers, took part in major strike action across the United Kingdom on Wednesday, the same day Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt announced his Budget. Tens of thousands of striking workers have taken part in protests through central London.
Over 10,000 RMT union members shut London Underground in a strike over pensions, job cuts and attacks on working conditions.
