Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will attend the opening ceremony of the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.

Xi, who is also China's president, will deliver a keynote speech at the meeting, which will be held via video link, Hu Zhaoming, a spokesman for the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, announced on Monday.

The meeting, themed "Path Towards Modernization: the Responsibility of Political Parties", will gather leaders of political parties and political organizations from many countries, Hu said.

The event comes as the CPC has pledged to lead the Chinese people to realize national rejuvenation through advancing the Chinese path to modernization, and work with other countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind and create a new form of human advancement.

To facilitate state-to-state relations by way of enhancing inter-party friendships, Xi has in recent years engaged in various forms of interactions with leaders of foreign political parties.

At the opening of the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting in Beijing in December 2017, the first-ever gathering of the CPC and nearly 300 political parties and political organizations from over 120 countries, Xi said that political parties play an important role in the progress of human civilization and the CPC is ready to make more friends across the world.

In July 2021, the CPC and World Political Parties Summit was held via video link. Leaders of more than 500 political parties and organizations from over 160 countries attended the event.

In his keynote speech at the summit, Xi called on the world's political parties to shoulder their historical responsibility to promote development with results shared by people of all countries and improve the fairness, efficiency and coordination of global development.
