Chinese films demonstrate cultural confidence: Film executive

China's film industry showcases the country's cultural confidence and strength, national political advisor and chairman of China Film Co Ltd Fu Ruoqing said.
Fu gave a speech at a video conference for the first session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC on March 9.
He said based on this year's Spring Festival box office and audience feedback, he saw the diversity and richness of filmmaking, the audience's love for films and the recovery of the film market, as well as the industry's resilience and potential.
Making special mention of the recent hit The Wandering Earth 2, he said the sci-fi film elaborates on the idea of independently developing science and technology, further stimulating the power of cultural confidence.
According to Fu, China has now a world-leading number of film screens, developed digitalized screening equipment and filming technology, innovated marketing strategies and created rich intellectual properties.
These technological and industrial advances will contribute to improving the quality, reach and appeal of Chinese films, which are a medium for presenting cultural confidence and strength.
"Chinese films should persevere in maintaining their foundation, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground," Fu said.
