US job openings still way above pre-pandemic level

The number of job openings in the US labor market was about 10.8 million in January, down from 11.2 million in December but still well above the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level of about 7 million, according to data released Wednesday by the US Labor Department. It was the 20th month in a row that the number of job openings exceeded 10 million.
