Chongqing - Xiaoya village, an unknown village in Danzi town of Southwest China Chongqing's Wanzhou district, now shoulders the great responsibility of building a 5G base station.

This is for China Mobile Ltd., which engages in the provision of telecommunications and other related services, to accelerate the layout of 5G networks in the rural areas of the Wanzhou-Dazhou-Kaizhou Demonstration Zone of Sichuan-Chongqing coordinated development, said Chen Shilin, director of the Wireless Network Optimization Office of the Construction and Maintenance Department of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd. Chongqing Wanzhou Branch.

Chen added, empowering the construction of digital villages, he hopes the construction of the 5G base station to be completed by the end of February.

In recent years, Sichuan and Chongqing's information and communication industry has established the concept of integrated development and jointly building the 5G Network Coverage Construction Project.

Aiming to accelerate the extension of the 5G network to the towns adjacent to the Sichuan-Chongqing region, this is also to enhance the 5G network construction in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd Chongqing Branch has accelerated the pace of 5G construction in several adjacent areas of Sichuan and Chongqing, such as the "Wanzhou-Dazhou-Kaizhou" area.

In Wanzhou district, the company's 5G network has covered 210 administrative villages, accounting for more than half of the administrative villages in the district.

As more and more administrative villages cover 5G networks, 5G has gradually become an important driving force for the construction of digital villages, bringing significant changes to the lives of rural residents and agricultural production.

For example, building a 5G+ smart pig farm. Through installing and using 5G smart devices, the farm has realized functions such as intelligent feeding without manual labor, intelligent monitoring of pig health data, intelligent cleaning of pig houses, and early warning of major epidemics.

As a result, labor costs and the risk of infectious diseases in pigs are reduced, and the survival rate of pigs is increased by 9%.

The total number of 5G base stations in China has exceeded 2.3 million, accounting for more than 60% of the world. In 2022, the three basic telecom companies and China Tower Co., Ltd. completed a total of 180.3 billion yuan(about $26.41 billion) in 5G investment.

5G construction is accelerating the extension of on-demand to rural areas. Compared with 4G networks, 5G networks have the advantages of high stability, high network transmission rate, low latency, and comprehensive coverage. They can better meet the communication network requirements of digital village construction.

The construction of 5G base stations has also promoted the development of a new economic model in rural areas, and e-commerce and live streaming have significantly broadened the sales channels of agricultural products.

In 2022, the national rural online retail sales reached 2.17 trillion yuan (about $317.69 billion).

Many farmer households can promote their agricultural products on the Internet platform through 5G networks. At the same time, many villagers, like city dwellers, use 5G mobile phones to play games, to use TikTok and WeChat, and shop online.
