On Tuesday, people across the country celebrated Longtaitou Day with various activities. The day of Longtaitou, which literally means dragon raises its head, falls on the second day of the second lunar month.

Thousands of residents in Zhaoxian county, Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, gathered together to hold an activity called "Longpaihui" during which they showed respect for the dragon and prayed for health and good luck.

At a kindergarten in Guangping county, Handan, Hebei, children performed dragon dance and learned to cut hair for others. To cut hair is a traditional activity on the Longtaitou Day as people believe that a new hairdo brings good luck for the new year.

At a scenic area in Shenyang, Liaoning province, a cultural festival activity was held to celebrate the Longtaitou Day.
