Pragmatic cooperation between China and Thailand will yield more results as China speeds up its post-pandemic recovery, Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said on Monday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during talks with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai in Beijing.

As China accelerates its post-pandemic recovery with its domestic demand expanded and its advantage as the world's largest market fully released, Wang said personnel exchanges between China and Thailand will become more vigorous.

Wang elaborated on distinct features of and new opportunities to countries brought by Chinese modernization, adding China-Thailand cooperation not only enhances development of the two countries but also delivers tangible benefits for the two peoples.

China's outbound group tours last week resumed on a pilot basis, with the first batch of tourists setting out for 20 countries including Thailand.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Chinese tourists at the airport, which Wang described as symbolic of the China-Thailand friendship.

Don said Chinese modernization of a super scale population will create a miracle of human development, encouraging small and medium-sized countries like Thailand to accelerate their own development process.

While expressing appreciation for China's help to respond to Thailand's needs in a timely manner, Don said he looks forward to contributing to the development of Thailand-China relations.

The two also exchanged views on issues including the Ukraine crisis. Wang stressed conflict, sanctions and pressure are not solutions, adding China will continue playing a constructive role in facilitating peace talks and promoting a political settlement of the crisis.
