More than 200 camels raced in a show of speed and strength during the Nadam Fair, which opened recently in Alshaa League, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to media reports.
The event — staged at Gurvantulga village, which is administered by Altan-Ovoo town — attracted participants from Subei Mongolian autonomous county in Gansu province and Baotou, Ordos, Bayannuur and Alshaa League in Inner Mongolia.
Mongolian camel racing is a traditional spectacle and an indispensable sport in fairs. In 2008, it was added to the second national intangible cultural heritage list.
