Ningxia man sentenced after rape conviction
A man was sentenced to 13 year's imprisonment by the people's court of Yuanzhou district in Guyuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, on Tuesday.
The convicted surnamed Li was charged with one count of rape, six counts of indecent assault and eight counts of indecency with minors, according to a statement from the court.
The court was told when Li worked as a math teacher at a primary school from 2012 to 2018, he used pretenses such as after-school tutoring, grading their exam papers and paying home visits to commit the crimes. He sexually assaulted and raped 15 girls, all minors, in his home, on the mountain near the school and in the teaching building.
As the first such case in Ningxia, he will be banned for life from working in any business requiring close contact with minors, according to a report from China Central Television.
