Guizhou's foreign trade leaps forward in development in 2022

In 2022, Southwest China's Guizhou province overcame multiple adverse factors and its foreign trade value exceeded 80 billion yuan ($11.68 billion) for the first time.

According to Guiyang Customs, Guizhou's total import and export value of goods trade in 2022 was 80.12 billion yuan, an increase of 22.5 percent from 2021.

Among this, the export value was 52.36 billion yuan, up 7.5 percent year-on-year, and the import value was 27.76 billion yuan, up 66.3 percent year-on-year.

Guizhou's scale of import and export continued to expand rapidly. In 2022, Guizhou's import and export growth rate was 14.8 percentage points higher than the national average, and ranked Guizhou eighth in the country.

In 2022, Guiyang's import and export value reached 59.33 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 15.2 percent and ranking the first in the province. Zunyi's import and export value hit 10.57 billion yuan, which is an increase of 70.5 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, Guizhou's cross-border e-commerce increased by 252.6 percent year-on-year. The import and export value of general trade reached 53.06 billion yuan, up 15.9 percent year-on-year and accounting for 66.2 percent of the province's total.

The import and export value of processing trade and bonded logistics reached 16.73 billion yuan and 9.89 billion yuan, respectively. Thisaccounted for 20.9 percent and 12.3 percent of the province's total.

Last year, Guizhou operated 34 China Railway Express freight trains, transporting goods worth over $114 million. The import and export value of the free trade zones in Guiyang, Guian New Area and Zunyi totaled 29.08 billion yuan, up 153.5 percent year-on-year and accounting for 36.3 percent of the province's total.

In 2022, Guizhou had 885 foreign trade entities, increasing by 16.8 percent year-on-year. Among them, 750 were private enterprises with import and export value of 53.44 billion yuan, which accounted for 66.7 percent of the province's total.

Meanwhile, the import and export value of State-owned enterprises reached 23.4 billion yuan, up 1.4 percent year-on-year and accounting for 29.2 percent of the province's total.

In 2022, Guizhou's import and export value with ASEAN member countries, the United States and the European Union were 18.32 billion yuan, 5.78 billion yuan and 5.22 billion yuan, up 101 percent, 87.4 percent and 36.8 percent, respectively.

The import and export value with other RCEP member countries was 30.75 billion yuan, up 58.9 percent year-on-year. The import and export value with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative was 28.1 billion yuan, up 65.7 percent year-on-year.

The export of agricultural products, tires, lithium battery new materials and other characteristic products maintained rapid growth, with export values of 5.5 billion yuan, 2.04 billion yuan and 1.8 billion yuan.

The nickel matte and other lithium battery raw materials and agricultural products were imported at 6.14 billion yuan and 2.14 billion yuan, up 47.1 times and 175.2 percent respectively.
