Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province began building a national climate observatory after the project was approved by the China Meteorological Administration, according to a report by Hebei Daily on Thursday.

It will be the country's 27th national climate observatory, the report said, and will consist of one main station and eight supporting stations spread across the area.

The stations will conduct comprehensive observations and scientific research and will offer ecological climate service, contributing to the high-quality development of Xiong'an, the report said.
