NOAA: Extreme weather cost US $165 billion in 2022

The United States sustained 18 separate disasters in 2022 that caused in excess of $1 billion in damage, with the total coming to $165 billion, the third highest on record, according to a new report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).The figures didn't include the winter storm damage that hit the central and eastern US last December, or the total lost could have been closer to $170 billion, the report said.
