Sichuan governor projects 6% GDP growth

Sichuan province's gross domestic product is expected to increase by about 6 percent to more than 6 trillion yuan ($886.2 billion) this year, Governor Huang Qiang said in his government report during the first session of the 14th Sichuan People's Congress, which opened on Wednesday.
Sichuan's GDP has exceeded 5.6 trillion yuan last year, ranking sixth in the country.
The annual per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents in Sichuan has increased, respectively, by 7.1 percent and 8.8 percent. All 6.25 million registered poor people have been lifted out of poverty, Huang said.
The urban unemployment rate is expected to be kept at around 5.5 percent, and 850,000 new jobs will be created in urban areas, he said.
