Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas at Huaqiao University in Quanzhou, Fujian province, have said they are inspired by the pivotal report that General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Various activities have been held by the students to discuss and learn from the report, and for them to incorporate their own dreams into the realization of the nation's rejuvenation.

Sung Ching-shu, a postgraduate student from Hong Kong at Huaqiao University, said as a Hong Kong student, he must love Hong Kong and the country, and safeguard the principle of "one country, two systems".

"Grasping the opportunities of the new era, I must work hard to learn new knowledge and skills, and to contribute to the great national rejuvenation," he said.

Hu Wenkai, an undergraduate student from Hong Kong, said the report mentioned "putting people first" many times.

In the face of a major epidemic, the Party always put the people first and made people's lives the top priority, he said.

"Studying on the mainland has enabled me to feel the importance the country has attached to epidemic control and how the Party has prioritized people's lives," he said. "I feel very safe and more than happy."

Gao Hongyuan, a Chinese student from the United States at the university, said he is deeply impressed by the concept of building whole-process democracy.

Overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese should remain united and become an important force in achieving the great national rejuvenation, and in realizing the Chinese dream, he said.

Li Huiyu, an undergraduate student from Macao, said young people should live up to their responsibility and mission, and prepare to face major challenges head-on. He said he will resolutely uphold the "one country, two systems" principle, love the country and the Macao Special Administrative Region, and actively integrate himself into the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Wei Chen'en, an undergraduate student from Taiwan, said she is deeply moved by the concern of General Secretary Xi Jinping for Taiwan compatriots.

"The motherland has never forgotten about Taiwan," she said. "Just like the wheels of history keep moving forward, national reunification is unstoppable and hopefully Taiwan will soon return to the motherland."

Cai Huiqiao, an undergraduate student from Hong Kong, recalled that last year marked the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

"As a young person from Hong Kong, I will uphold the 'one country, two systems' principle, listening to the Party and following its lead," she said.
