With the recent optimization of COVID-19 response measures and the adjustment of COVID-19 policies, China's fight against the epidemic is entering a new chapter.

Over the past three years, the country has stamped out more than 100 outbreaks and successfully mitigated five waves of COVID-19, while maintaining one of the lowest levels of infection and death in the world.

From Wuhan in Hubei province to Shanghai, and from the Delta variant to Omicron, China has tackled the uncertainties presented by the epidemic, resulting in a rise in life expectancy from 77.9 in 2020 to 78.2 last year, according to the National Health Commission.
