A high-speed railway will open on Friday in Southwestern China's Yunnan province, an important railway channel between China and ASEAN economies, China State Railway Group said on Thursday.
The 106-kilometer line, with train speeds of 250 km per hour, connects Mile and Mengzi city of Yunnan.
The line will cut travel time between Kunming, the capital of Yuannan and Honghe of Mengzi city to 70 minutes.
To the North, the line began construction in June 2018 and connects Nanning-Kunming High-Speed Railway. To the South, it links Kunming-Hekou Railway, China's only meter-width track railway which borders with Laos. It is an important part of the railway channel between China's southwest region and ASEAN countries, the company said.
