With its aim of common prosperity and commitment with the 2030 sustainable development goals, China has the cooperation plan to relate more with countries of the Global South, said Maria Osterloh Mejia, a researcher and professor at the Center for Asian Studies at San Marcos National University in Peru.

Mejia pointed out that the Chinese government is increasing its efforts to be technologically sufficient and independent of foreign technology, redoubling its efforts to invest in R&D and implement strategies to develop a high-quality work force.

"I think China's development of indigenous technology in these industries will bring a needed alternative to developing countries that now all rely on the US," said Mejia.

She mentioned China's transition to a green economy and consumption represents an opportunity for other countries. Also, China is willing to keep opening its economy to pursue high-quality development, and proof of this is China's announcement that it wants to be part of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. "This will give the opportunity to other countries to have a more open Chinese market," said Mejia.
