Port authorities in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, have optimised cross-border transportation measures for truck drivers between the province and the neighbouring Hong Kong, to ensure supply of living materials to the special administrative region and stability of industrial supply chain.

A point-to-point transport mode took effect on Monday, requiring cross-border truck drivers to make an appointment to declare the current entry information online before entering Shenzhen.

Each application is valid for one entry, with drivers being required to return to Hong Kong on the same day of entry.

Designated accommodation must be reported online in advance if it is necessary for truck drivers to stay overnight in Guangdong, according to the Shenzhen Port Office.

In terms of epidemic prevention, cross-border truck drivers are required to conduct nucleic acid and antigen tests at Hong Kong side of the ports, with presence of negative results of the tests before their entry to Shenzhen.

Drivers infected with the novel coronavirus should not enter Shenzhen within eight days from the date of confirmation of infection, according to the port authority.

After their entry, truck drivers will be under closed-loop management, with a yellow health alert code given to them. Also, they are required to wear N95 or KN95 masks after entry.
